John Price, Woodwinds
John is a woodwind player from Canada and resides near Toronto. He grew up working in dance bands and playing woodwinds for the local musicals. In the late 1970's he was a member of the Brodie Saxophone Quartet where he met Marino Galluzzo. John was a founding member of the Canadian Saxophone Quartet and also the Canadian Woodwind Trio, a group in which the members played all the woodwinds. It was with these groups he was able to tour across Canada and Europe. Being comfortable in all styles, John played in community orchestras on all the woodwinds, in jazz bands, on radio and television orchestras and on recordings. As shows began downsizing, musicians were required to play many instruments. John started touring with musicals in Canada such as Cats, Phantom, Crazy for You and The Producers. More recently he toured with Les Miserables throughout the US for six years. John has recorded with the Brodie Saxophone Quartet and the Canadian Saxophone Quartet. He has studied with and performed in master classes with many top woodwind teachers throughout North America. John was formerly the Saxophone Professor at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. Recently John has revived his interest in mouthpiece refacing and enjoys working on saxophone and clarinet mouthpieces.
